The whole name of PTSD is known as the post-traumatic stress disorder and this is wherein there is a person that experiences traumatic event after the other. These traumatic experiences can range from hopelessness, threat of death, terror, and threat of personal injury or one that causes extreme fear. Another common solution is for the patient to avoid activities, people and places that can remind them of the traumatic event. There are various ways for a person to feel the numbness. A person may have difficulty with concentration and memory, emotionally numb or experience feelings of hopelessness about the future. There are even times wherein the numbness they feel can lead to detachment from family members and friends as well. There are even extreme cases wherein the person will have all of the memories of this traumatic event suppressed inside of them.
